The Microsoft Excel Statistical Functions !
number1, number2,... :- Are the numerical arguments for which you want to calculate to get average value of numbers
Remarks :-
(i) You can used 1 to 255 number of numerical arguments in the Average function
(ii) The arguments can either be numbers or arrays, names, or references that contain numbers.
(iii) If an array or reference argument contains text or logical value, or empty cells, then those values are ignored in the formula, on the other hand cells with the zero value are included.
(iv) If the arguments are error values or text that cannot be translated into numbers cause errors.
(v) If you want to include logical values and text in the calculation, representations of numbers in a reference, then use the excel AVERAGEA function. Click To Download File

Syntax :-
AVERAGEA(value1,value2,...)
The AVERAGEA function syntax has the following arguments: -
Value1, value2, ... :- Are the ranges of cells, number or values for which you want calculate the average value.

AVERAGEIF Function.
The AVERAGIF function helps you to calculate the average value or returns arithmetic mean of all the cells in a range when that meet a given criteria in the formulas.
Syntax :-
AVERAGEIF(range,criteria,average_range) The AVERAGEIF function syntax has the following arguments: - Range : - Is the one or more cells range which is Data Table or (Data Table Rang) that contains numbers or names, arrays or references. Criteria:- In a formula criteria can be a form of number, expression |
text or cell reference that defines which cells are calculate to get average value [e.g. Criteria can be expressed as 45, "32", "<32", "East", or A4]
Average _range : - Is the actual cells range that contains numerical values to calculate average value
Average _range : - Is the actual cells range that contains numerical values to calculate average value
Remarks :-
(i) If a cells in range that contains TRUE or FALSE then that are ignored in formula.
(ii) If a cell in average_range is an empty cell, AVERAGEIF Function ignores it in formula.
(iii) If a range is a blank or text value, then AVERAGEIF function returns the #DIV0! Error value as a result
(iv) If a cell in criteria is empty or empty cell, then AVERAGEIF function treats it as a 0 value as a result.
( v ) If no cells in the range meet the criteria, then AVERAGEIF function returns the #DIV/0! Error value as a result. Click To Download File

AVERAGEIFS Function.
The AVERAGIFS function helps you to calculate the average value or returns arithmetic mean when all cells that meet multiple criteria in a formula.
Syntax : -
AVERAGEIFS(average_range,criteria_range1,criteria1,criteria_range2,criteria2…)
Syntax : -
AVERAGEIFS(average_range,criteria_range1,criteria1,criteria_range2,criteria2…)
The AVERAGEIFS function syntax has the following arguments : -
Average_range:- Is the range of one or more cells to be averaged that include numbers, names, arrays or references in a database. Criteria_range1, criteria_range2, … :- Criteria_range1 is the range of cells which contain criteria’s in a database. It’s required, subsequent criteria_ranges are optional. You can give 1 to 127 ranges in the formula which to evaluate the associated criteria. |
Criteria1, criteria2, ... :- Criteria1 is the criteria which helps to evaluate a formula according to the logic or given arguments, It’s required, subsequent criteria are optional. You can give 1 to 127 criteria in the formula it can be form of a number, expression, cell reference or text that define which cell will be averaged in a formula [e.g. criteria can be expressed as 2, "2", ">2", "East" or A4.]
Remarks : -
(i) If the average_range is a blank or text value then AVERAGEIFS function will return the #DIV0! Error value as result.
(ii) If a criteria range contains an empty cell, then AVERAGEIFS function will treats it as a 0 value.
(iii) If a criteria range contains TRUE in a cell then it evaluates as 1,if the cells contain FALSE then evaluate it as 0 (zero). Click To Download File

COUNT Function.
The Microsoft Excel COUNT function helps you to count the number of cells that contain numbers in a database.
Syntax :-
COUNT(value1,value2,...) The COUNT function syntax has the following arguments:- Value1, value2, ... :- Are the values or cell ranges that can contain or refer to a variety of different types of data. You can use 1 to 255 arguments in a formula. Remarks :- (i) If an arguments is an error values or text that can’t be convert into numbers are ignored. (ii) If you want to count logical values, text, or error values, then you can use the COUNTA function to count those values. |
COUNTA Function.
The Microsoft Excel COUNTA function helps you to count number of cells that are not empty, and you can use COUNTA function to count number of cells that contain data in a range.
Syntax : -
COUNTA(value1,value2,...) The COUNTA function syntax has the following arguments:- Value1, value2, ... :- Are the values or cell ranges that can contain or refer to a variety of different types of data. You can use 1 to 255 arguments in a formula. Remarks :- (i) If you want to count Blank Cells only, then you can use the COUNTBLANK function to count those Cells in a range. Click To Download File |
COUNTBLANK Function.
The Microsoft Excel COUNTBLANK Function helps you to count empty cells in a specific range of a database.
Syntax :-
COUNTBLANK(range) The COUNTBLANK function syntax has the following arguments:- Range :- Is the range of a database from which you want to count the blank cells. Remarks :- (i) If the cells with formulas that return ="" (empty text) are also counted and cells with zero values are not counted in the function Click To Download File |
